SCIENCE AND SOCIETY

March 12, 2021 at Laboratory Parole et Langage

What place for fundamental research in society ? While the answer to this question might feel obvious to numerous researchers, a gap seems to prevent research from being considered as an active part of societal life. How can sciences analyse and interpret the society they moove and exist in ? How do new methods, technologies, and concepts allow society to evolve continuously ? In parallel, how do society push sciences to to reinvent themselves constantly ? The 7th Annual Days of the PhD's students of the LPL will focus on showing doctoral thesis through the prism of multiple links between science and society.

Research laboratories are at the center of this intimate bond between science and society, the laboratory Parole et Langage (LPL), attached to Aix-Marseille University (AMU) being one of them. It shows by the multiple domains to which research teams and groups in the LPL are linked (linguistic, didactic, psychology, neurosciences, computer sciences, etc) and through the collaborations that have been done with several universities worldwide.

In the same spirit as the previous years, every PhD's in AMU is invited to present their work during this 7th edition of the Annual Day of the PhD students. The JAD is a way to showcase original works, but also to reinforce the links between the PhD's of various fields of work in AMU and to promote meetings and interactions between them and the other participants of the scientific life (students, researchers, engineers, etc.) at LPL and AMU.
